i found this site which made interesting reading, and will calculate your carbon footprint.
I was quite pleased to discover that our household footprint is well below the national average though there is more we can do to improve it.

does anyone know if there are any that can calculate the other items in the list..what the site alips linked to listed as 'secondary carbon footprint'?
I think that is one area where my house would be considerably lower than average households, particularly food (thread on OS saying 15p out of every £1 on food is wasted)
I realise these things are going to be much mroe difficult to calculate, but just wondered if anyone knew...
Ta!One thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.
Only 5% of the eligible population give blood: do something amazing today, save a life, give blood0 -
Is there anything more hypocritical than wealthy people like Al Gore and David Cameron salving their conscience by ‘covering’ their carbon footprint by buying trees.
Al Gore with, 20 times the average power consumption for his house and private jet flights, buys his trees from the company he partly owns; and encourages others to do likewise.
David Cameron always seems to be having ‘photo opportunities’ riding a bike to show off his green credentials. His recent 90 mile flight from Oxford in one of his rich pal’s private aircraft will hopefully come back to haunt him!!
I just planted 6 trees in my garden – nought to do with carbon footprints. Smug – Moi? Why not? seems to be fashionable.0 -
I agree its hypocritical, but at least they are making a gesture (albeit a token one) to at least offset *some* of their carbon emissions.
Of course it would be better if DC didn't fly, and Al Gore reduced his power consumption drastically, but...as thats unlikely to happen, at least they are making slight amends for it.One thing...that sets pulses racing...that gets hearts pounding...for which there is no substitute...only YOU can provide...blood.

What do you expect from politicians? It has always been a case of "Do as I say,not as I do",if only I had the same money as Cameron ,Phoney Tony etcIs there anything more hypocritical than wealthy people like Al Gore and David Cameron salving their conscience by ‘covering’ their carbon footprint by buying trees.
