dinner party on a budget ideas

Hi,
I have 7 adults and 2 children to cook for at the weekend, I'm racking my brains for a nice meal that tastes expensive but is on a budget!

I'm looking at the Jamie Oliver lasagne with garlic bread/salad option......but wondering if anyone has more exciting ideas?

    Hi littleg,

Lasagne is a good idea, very few people don't love a good homemade lasagne! :) A roast is another good one if you put everything in dishes on the table so that people can help themselves to what they want. For a starter soup is failsafe...cheap and can be made in advance leaving you time to concentrate on your guests. Most importantly do something that you are comfortable cooking so that you can enjoy yourself and won't feel too stressed.

These threads have lots of ideas that may give you some inspiration:

Once you've had more replies I'll add your thread to the first link to keep the suggestions together.
