    Evening all,

I was just wondering if there are any last minute tips for the grievance hearing that I am attending tomorrow?

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

    Thanks.

Can't help you I'm afraid, other than to wish you good luck.

  • BettyBoop I can only echo what Ohreally has already said. Make sure you are prepared, write down the main points and that you are clear, concise and stick to the facts as you know them.

Good luck for tomorrow and let us know how you get on.

Just to say best of luck for tomorrow.

The only advice I would give is to be sure of what you are going to say, and if at any point you need to think about this, you are absolutely entitled to request a break.

Silly as it may sound, giving yourself a few seconds before answering anything will enable you to ensure that you are saying the right thing.

Let us know how you get on x

    hi there.

good luck with the hearing. just remember to stick to the facts, be calm and take your time. you can ask for a break if necessary.

someone independent should be taking notes so you all have a true record of what has been said.

in theory, if they do not let you remain part-time (temp could do the other part-time - easy solution) then they are saying that they want to sack you.

if you have no other official/documented blemishes on your record then they cannot say anything about your work/conduct etc etc.

if necessary (have you been there over a year) if it doesn't go well, remind them that if they haven't followed the disciplinary/grievance process to the letter then if they do sack you, it would be automatic unfair dismissal.

but, i'm sure it will all be fine as it will be independent people running this.

ps. make sure you have questions to ask your boss that will force him to tell the truth (or lie on record) - you can write the questions to get the answers you want or that will show him up.

good luck (sorry for the early ramblings....) x

Also, make sure you take full notes. They will present you with written minutes of the meeting. These are usually scewed in favour of the employer. Do not agree them if you think any element of the minutes are inaccurate. Your own written notes will be helpful to you after the meeting. Writing them will also help you keep focussed and will slow the debate down (too often employees feel rushed and pushed intogiving quick answers).

Good luck (BTW, I do not think your employer has a leg to stand on!)

Thank you everyone for your comments. I was a bag of nerves to say the least. I didn't take notes as I did almost all the talking. We went through the points raised in my letter and I also explained how things deteriorated since I became unwell a few weeks ago. I will let you know of the outcome as soon as I know. I suppose if there don't find another part time job for me elsewhere in the company then I will probably have to go......just to clarify the job is now a full time post but there is no reason 2 people cannot do it.

    Have a great day!

Hope all goes well. May be a good idea to write a few notes now whilst the meeting is still fresh in your mind.

    Fingers crossed!

You may have the answer to your problem here...consider a formal request to job share the post.
