Legs in summer

For the first time I've noticed fine veins showing on my legs. I always have bare legs in summer as I can't bear to wear tights, hold ups, trousers or leggings when the weather is warm. As I am now 50 I realise though that my legs are going to start showing signs of no longer being so smooth and young looking.

Is fake tan the answer or leg make up? Does this stuff cover veins or is the answer just to wear longer skirts? I do like skirts that skim my knees.

    My mum (54) also likes showing her legs and she regularly borrows these from me to help disguise her veins etc;

    moneysaving:

    not so moneysaving:

    I also have thread veins (mainly round my knees) and no amount of makeup or false tan hides them (mine may be more than yours though). I was told that I would have to wear special skin make up (the type that is given to hide birthmarks or where people have a pigmentation problem.

    I've not tried it and now just try to ignore it! Not easy to do though, especially when people (rude ones!) ask what is that mark on my legs!

    I also hate wearing tights so in summer it's almost always bare legs for me or cropped trousers/long shorts. I make sure I'm not hairy though - I really dislike THAT look!!!

    Don't know if age has anything to do with it but I'm almost 60.

    Life is way too short to give a care isn't it? I'm 25 and i'm only just starting to be comfortable with how i look, i've wasted soo many years not wearing what I want to wear because i thought i was this that and the other. Give me some hope that in the next 25 years i wont still feel this bullcrap about what people my age should look like!

    Thread veins and similar can be treated with advanced electrolysis if they really bother you. It costs a bit more than fake tan, but will last a bit longer!

    I'm sure there'll be someone practising in your local area if you check.

    Actually, keeping my legs covered in summer in linen or cotton trousers and using moisturiser daily seems to be keeping mine in pretty good nick. I'm just following my mother and grandmother who both did this and my grandmother had amazingly soft unlined skin for a woman in her 80s.
