Have never done it myself but have heard people talk about making a 'tea/coffee break' hamper. Items to put in could be some nice biscuits or cake / cupcakes (even home made ones by your daughter?), a nice selection of teas and coffee and perhaps a couple of nice mugs (or in your case - 3). You could also put some little activities like a few crossword books or mags I suppose. Present in in a nice basket, cover it with cellophane and stick on a nice ribbon or something. You could also add a few personalised items (eg with name) or just something that you know they love eg particular choc bars. Will also lower costs as could be a joint present for all 3 of them. Was thinking about doing this this year for my childrens teachers but managed to get some cheap sets in the recent tesco 3 for 2 offer on here which they will get instead.

last year for my daughters nursery teachers i let my daughter decorate some gift boxes and filled them with things things to relax after a hard day at work, eg wineglass & minature bottle, candle, posh bath products, choc's.

This year my second daughter leaves nursery and i have to think of something different as they are the same teachers, but, as part of their present i have made keyrings (they are pictured in my blog - address is in post 'inspired by you'). Just got to think of something different for the rest of their pressie.

Am doing a general staff sweet tree too.

I love the 'thank you for helping me grow' idea - especially off the younger kids!

  • When I was the nursery teacher at our school the presents that I appreciated most were homemade ones. There were three staff & I remember us getting a wine glass each with a minature bottle of wine in, they had shared out some of those Lindt chocolates between the three glasses then wrapped it all in cellophane - it looked lovely. I also still have a gorgeous beaded bookmark that was a present around 8 years ago. I also recieved a pot of gold recently too!

I think a mini bottle of wine and some chocolates would look lovely wrapped in some cello, like Olga said.

A pot of gold I'm sure would go down a storm!!!

We used to make marzipan fruit using a block of marzipan and food colouring. Home made stiff paper box painted by child, 6fruits in petit four cases. Kids loved making them, specially prickingthe oranges with a cocktail stick.

I love the crayon picture. That's great. I also suggested on another thread a children's drawing uploaded onto a photo mug. There was a £5 voucher for photoworld here:http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/deals/free-photo-prints#freephotoworld

Usable, disposable or recyclable. Every teacher I know (socially not at school) is inundated with gifts that they have no use for or nowhere to store. Every term they donate armfuls of stuff to friends, family and charity shops.

They are not ungrateful or mean but can only use so many mugs, desk tidies, bath bombs etc. Yes there are gems that they remember but personally I think buying teachers presents and the quest to buy something different or memorable has got out of hand, hence the grinch title :o.

If each child put £1 or £2 in a kitty the teacher could have a voucher for a manicure, mini massage, make over or treat of some description. Much cheaper and much less hassle for everyone.

One friend was once given a ferrari driving experince from a class collection from school leavers, it certainly blew the cobwebs away .
