What is it with the assumptions round here that if people arent working they are scrounging, whereas if someone wants advice on what benefits they can get people jump athe chance to give it. But hey, OP got tax credits and wonders if she's missed anything out of her calculations so she must be a complete scrounger. God forbid anyone preplan, live on savings or scrape by on one income. Though maybe I feel that way as I'm about to take a career break to raise my family. Of course the government will be funding me all the way. Oh no, that's right, theyll give us nothing as my partner earns just above tax credit limits. I'm funding my break though savings, redundancy money and living tightly.
