I had a voice mail from Christian O'Connell from Absolute Radio a couple of months ago. I was cycling to work, the phone was in my bag and I didn't get to it in time.

OMG that's so mean! He didn't even have to leave a message if there was nothing you could do about it and laughing was especially unnecessary. One of the reasons I don't enter comps where you have to go on air, it's a lot of pressure!

I think thats quite mean. OK to leave a message if they had to, but to laugh at you for it. Id be fuming, not that I missed the call, but more that they were openly mocking me.

So there is hope with ITV then. I hate answering the phone. The other night I answered (it was the second international call in 10 mins) and some guy said that I had won an iphone and an ipad he then proceeded to ask me some survey questions. He was from surveys 4 you. I have not entered any comps from there (not that I can find them) so I hung up.
Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:

Hehe, I was fuming for a few days, but soon forgot about it.

I'm the opposite when it comes to radio (on air) comps, as over the past couple of years i've won a few amazing prizes.

Last year my wife and I were involved in a Capital FM week long quiz for a trip to Las Vegas. Every day they were picking one couple at random to go live on air and answer as many questions as possible in 40 seconds. We got 6 right and on the Friday were involved in a tie-breaker.

So, live on air again, the question was "How many floors are there on the Empire State Building?" I guessed 87.
    The other couple guessed five!
It was so surreal, I nearly burst into laughter on air.
Needless to say we won, and had a fantastic six nights in Las Vegas (with Business Class flights) last October. First time we'd ever been and loved it.

I won £1,000 about a month before we went from Kiss FM, going on air. That was our spending money sorted for Vegas :)

So to cut a long story short, don't be put off by the on air competitions, there are some amazing prizes to be had! :)

I just had a call from a similar number: 02073451299 It was a call from a company (couldn't get their name because the caller was Asian - sorry I'm not being racist!) and they said that I had recently entered a comptetition to either win the new iPad3 or £10,000 in cash - so I said ok. Then the caller said - we just want to confirm you name as...., your date of birth as .... and your email as ...... Well what got me was they had my name and date of birth right but the email they tried to confirm was mine was an old email I had about 16 months ago - I deleted it then and have never used it since! So I just hung up! I don't know where they got my detais from but if I had entered a competition recently they would have had my present email! Like I said - the email they had me down for no longer exists as I deleted it 16 months ago! STRANGE!???

In a nutshell - you have to be careful with callers as there are so many dodgy people out there trying to get your details!

There was an issue a couple of years ago with details of people who entered a Monarch competition. Their details were hacked (name, telephone number, date of birth, email, etc).
There's a link here to the leaked list (unfortunately i'm on this list), but have not had any dodgy calls, but I will be wary, so thanks for the heads up.

I'd check if you're on there.

Thanks - luckily I'm not on it but I bet these companies get our details from somewhere! They obviously got mine when I entered a comp over 16 months ago! I am very careful with callers though - I never give any details and when a caller claims that I have entered a comp and just want to confirm my details - that sends alarm bells ringing! Why would they ring all their entrants to confirm details!?

    .

So there is hope with ITV then. I hate answering the phone.

I posted this on another thread a while ago

For standard competitions they will make reasonable efforts to contact the winners. They used to state the number of calls they would make each day, the calling pattern, how many days they would keep calling for etc and it was over a month before they would stop calling. Do not expect them to e-mail anymore as that would give an advantage to a particular entry route

It is only time critical competitions where they move on quickly if they cannot make contact without delay.

The winner will be contacted as soon as practicable on or after the draw date as indicated in the interaction information. Reasonable efforts will be made to contact a winner on the phone number provided when entering the competition or such other method of contact deemed appropriate by the Promoter in its sole discretion in the circumstances. Where the prize is time critical and a winner needs to be found before the time to take up the prize passes, the announcement on air or the interaction information will indicate the date when the winner will be contacted and the Promoter will contact such winner on the phone number (or other method of contact (if appropriate)) they provided, calling three times in a two-hour daytime period or as indicated in the interaction information. If the winner cannot be contacted or successful contact is not made within the fixed time period as specified or if they fail to provide an address for delivery of the prize or fail to meet any of the eligibility requirements or are otherwise unable to comply with the interaction terms and conditions, this may result in forfeiture of the prize and the Promoter reserves the right to disqualify that entrant (without further liability to that entrant) and offer the prize to the next eligible entrant and thereafter until a winner is found
