this weekend i went camping which cost £27 an i am feeling quite guilty about it now.
Do you ever have feelings like this?
On the plus side i had a great time and my 3 year old had a lot of fun.

I feel a bit guilty if we have a blowout like £20 at cinema, £40 meal out, £20 each on buying things we didn't really need. I'm not as serious a DFW as my name suggests, but I would say that you need to accept that you can't be perfect 100% of the time, and £27 for a weekend sounds entirely reasonable so I wouldn't beat yourself up about it.DFBX2013: 021 :j seriousDFW £0 [STRIKE] £3,374[/STRIKE] 100% Paid off

Thanks! That does make me feel better although i will have to keep things like that as a treat rather than a regular occurance if i want to cut down my debts.
Strangely i get more satisfaction from making a payment on a debt than i do when i spend on something sociable.0 -
£27 for a weekend's camping which your 3-year old thoroughly enjoyed?
That's got to be one of the most guilt free pleasures you can have, surely
I was a DFW, now I'm a MFW :T0 -
Hi
If you take out what you would normally be spening on food for you all over the same period then really its less than £27. And we all need to live a bit occasionally.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0 -

On the plus side we had a great time with no distractions eg phones, tv computers and my 3 year old had a lot of fun.
Wow! You spent £27 and managed to go away for the weekend and spend some (priceless) quality time with your 3 year old
You did good hun, stop stressing, being DFW can start again tomorrow :T 0 -
Wow that sounds like quite a frugal weekend imo! Wish I could keep my family happy for that kind of money..I feel mega guilty about booking our holiday for this year. I thought I would keep costs down and not go abroad this year, so we are booked into a caravan near the sea for a week in the school holidays- its cost me nearly £700 and I wish now I hadn't and just done days out at the zoo etc. That could have gone a long way on my debt. Just hope the kids have a good time and the weather improves a bit! x£21k of debt left to go and got until 2014 to clear it! :eek:CC: £14,000Loan: £1,100Loan: £6,1000

Trouble is you want the debt gone as quickly as possible and worry about every little spend!
Had you booked a weekend away in a nice hotel, ate every meal out and stuck it all on the card then that's one to feel silly about. But a weekend for £27? A lot of people would spend more on that on a night out.
You'll still be debt free, but you'll also have some nice memories.Make £2020 in 2020 £178.81/£2020

£27 for a weekend away sounds like something to be proud of to me. What would you have done / spent if you had stayed at home?
If it makes you feel better, I spent twice that this weekend on 'entertainment' and thats just for me, nothing as 'worthy' as entertaining a small child0 -
Thank you everyone for your nice responses!0
