The previous posts convinced me that I must be overlooking a BIOS setting somewhere and there it was, staring me in the face, an entry something like HDD BBS Priorites on the Boot Tab(and there's one for CD/DVD). This lets you select the priority between the two pairs of HDDs and Opticals.

Wot I said.Same as mine.
IIRC you go into the sub menu and select the device and move it to the top (of 2).
Good you're sorted, part of the problem is that you are using 2 HDs. 2 partitions on one drive is easier, and I was going to suggest the same as spannerzone.
