Hi Everyone
Recently proposed to my girlfriend & we have embarked on looking to set up our wedding day.
My reason for this post is to get an idea of what our budget expectations should be for our requirements.
I will list what we want below & I appreciate this does not include many things that make up the total cost. But we would like to have a general feel for what a venue should cost from what we want.
So here we go:

· Arrival Drinks
o Pimms
o Orange Juice
· Table Wine (27 bottles)
o Red & White wine
o Half a bottle per person
· Toasting Drink (9 Bottles)
o Asti
o Other options welcomed
· Wedding Breakfast (54 Guests)
o 2 Courses (Starter & Main)
o Desert will be our wedding cake served
· Evening Food
o Cheese Board
Venue
· Ideally able to hold ceremony & evening event
· PA system with microphone
· Ipod dock or ability to have a DJ
· Bar to serve drinks
Any advice etc will be taken on board
Regards
Jonathan

It completely depends where you are in the country and the type of venue you go for. Some places you could probably get that for £50 per person and some places would be £250 per person...I think you need to look at the websites of some local venues to get an idea of prices where you are.
And huge congratulations on getting engaged!!!0 -
Hi Jonathan,
Congratulations on your engagement! I got engaged in March this year, and found that venues varied significantly. Some of them were charging £50 per head for room hire and a meal, then had to add drinks packages and evening food. One of the venues we really liked worked out at about £100 per head for hire of rooms, 3 course meal, arrival drinks, sparkling wine to toast and an evening buffet.
The venue we have ended up booking is costing us around £7200, this is for arrival drinks, 3 course meal, half a bottle of wine and glass of sparkling wine each for 105 people, (make sure you include yourselves in the numbers - so many people forget to add themselves into the equation!!), room hire, and an evening buffet for around 170 people.
Prices also vary depending on what part of the country you are in, and at venues that are popular with weddings. It is also cheaper to hold a wedding on a weekday, if this is an option for you. Venues may allow you to provide your own bottles of wine and bubbly, but always check corkage charges first as this can really bump the costs up.
You will find a lot of hotels and venues have rough price lists on their websites, or if not there is normally an email address you can contact. This would give you a good idea of costs locally to the area you wish to marry.
Good luck with the search and let us know how you get on!MFW 2016 #32 £1574.66/£1500:j:j0 -
Have a look at Holiday Inn.
Our local one does all in your list for 50-60 people plus accomodation for the bride and groom (think you bring your own cake) for under 3k.0 -
as everyone has said so far - price varies on where you are but also what type of venue you choose. We booked our venue last year, are getting married in October. Our wedding is in one venue, price for exclusive hire of the building only (it's a tudor manor) £7,000 and then another £7,000 for food and drink - that's about 80 to the wedding breakfast, plus reception drinks and toasts and then 100 people for the evening buffet.
the important thing is to look at what time of year you want to get married - high season (normally April/May to September) is usually more expensive, and likewise Saturdays are always the premium day- mid week weddings can be significantly cheaper.
venue is all important as some of the popular ones can have all their saturdays booked 2 years in advance.2014

Congratulations to you and your fiancee
As well as the already very useful tips on when you're getting married and where you want to have the wedding, I would just like to point out that it's quite common for venue hire to not include VAT so make sure to factor that in. Otherwise, the advice given so far is very sensible - get in touch with some local venues (and caterers if the venue does not include catering in the hire costs), by email or phone if possible as quite a few venues may not list any or all of the costs on their website. And go and visit them as well if you can; it may be that somewhere which is 'great on paper' is actually no good when you go to see it, or vice versa."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
Look at the Barcelo "Wedding in a box" offers, we got all that you want and more for £2750 in September 2010.0
