Freezer burned chicken

Hi,
My sister gave me some chicken portions a while ago which i have taken out of the freezer this morning to defrost for a slow cooker casserole tomorrow however all the bits seem to be freezer burned. I know its not my freezer that has done it so i have no idea how long its been burned for.
Im not sure if its all the way thru or just the skin which i was going to take off before cooking anyway.
Am i alright to use it? I read somewhere that freezer burn makes the meat tough but it's going to be sc'd.
Any advice?
Thanks

That was a really interesting site ~ and very useful tip about the meat.
I already rehydrate limp lettuce/cabbage/broccolli or rhubarb by putting them in a glass of water ~ same principle ~ don't know why I hadn't thought of it myself.0 -
I have used meat/chicken with freezer burn before and once it is cooked I couldn't tell the difference.0
