I notice on the DPS website that they are having problems with registering deposit payments coming from bacs payments over the last few days, it's only of concern to me because I paid one into it 6 days ago and it still shows as 'pending'
What does worry me slightly is about the PI.
I have filled out and sent the papers to my new tenant but there is nothing that can be done about that tenant acknowledging that they have received them. With the new localism bill in mind and only 30 days to make sure everything has been done properly what thoughts have others got about this.
The scenario I am thinking about is possibly 2 -3 years down the line when the tenant may genuinely have forgotten they ever had the PI, or may be maliciously looking for a payout.
The best answer I can come up with is that DPS should be charged with either supplying a link to the PI as part of their acceptance of the deposit (if the tenant has an email) or send the PI with their letter with the tenant's unique ID.
I would even pay (shudder) for the printing.
Wot d'ya fink?

You are right I have printed off the Perscribed Information and given a copy to my tenants but how do I prove this ? unless I get a signed letter from the tenants stating that they have received the deposit information and the PI booklet.0

I suppose that it is the way it is because the legislation says the LL must do this. But to me it would make sense for the DPS to send the info as Agent of the LL. I am not sure what the info is, but an ability for the T to print off his specific PI at will plus a link to download a pdf of general info would be good to give the tenant good access to the info,Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
