Well Sleep Well Tonight Thanks To My Amazing Mums Surprise

Well I mum as been worried about me and seen how much I have been working non stop these last few weeks to pay off as much as possible off my debts They started at just over £5000 a few weeks ago which I know doesnt sound a lot but was declared bankrupt 7 years ago so i was devasted that I had done it over again. Lets say I didnt know the actual balance as I was in denial and just ignored the phone and post anyway had got it down to just over £4500 mysef myself with paying bits off each one and today she surprised me with £1000 cash and told me along as I used it too pay debts it was mine to help with the get debt free project. Lets say I could have gone into complete meltdown (we arent the a mental rich family that can just hand thousands out like nothing).
Anyway just sat for the last 2 hours and paid every last pennies and a few more off old my debts and cant believe i am now upto date and getting there. I have set a complete payment schedule of who is next etc as I am paying a bill a week approx £150 which is a struggle to find but keep thinking 3 months and it will be a lot better..
cant believe my balance is at £3,700 so hopefully the phone will not ring as often on monday when they all realise money as been paid over the weekend.
Cant believe I am going to have the best sleep ever....
Sorry the the rumble Im just so chuffed and appreciate it and will definately never ever do this again....

Hi,
good for you, stick at it and don't let your mum down, she may have done without herself to gather up the money for you, so be wise.0 -
Thanks frugalmacdugal
I am going to be wise and make her proud so she knows i was good with it. I have a few with balances that I should be able to pay in one good over the weeks and then I can finally send out close my account please letters. What a lovely mum you have.
Hope you buy a lovely big bunch of flowers for her (not on the CC though, lol) they are cheap enough in the supermarket and give her them along with a big hug.
Well done and its nice to see you so positive.
Good luck in getting it off your back in the future, you seem to be in the right mind set.
Once you have all your debts paid and youve got all that money left that you are not paying off, you wont
need a credit card at all - or make your mind up that you will only use it for emergencies and keep to it.
Otherwise the temptation is always there, like a smoker who has given up but always keeps a ciggie in his pocket just in case.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
thanks mckneff thats good thinking i will get her a bunch from tesco tomorrow she probably would go mad if i went and spent a fortune on a massive delivered bunch lol xx

Thats wonderful and so kind of your mum!
I hope you get debtfree very soon and keep that way in future.
I was very lucky that my mum helped me out aswell, she cleared one of my debts of £350 and didnt want me to pay her back, and i remember feeling very guilty and ashamed for ages.
BUT i have made her proud as i have remained DF and since her kind gift i have treated her to things here and there (so i feel i paid her back iykwim).DebtFree FEB 2010!Slight blip in 2013 - Debtfree Aug 2014 :j

What a lovely mum
Looking at who you owe money to it looks like a lot of them are catalogues or internet shopping. Thinking ahead, do you have a plan for not looking at these? Block the websites and throw the catalogues in the recycling?I need to make a new list for 2014
think of something to put on it!:rotfl:
Try harder for 2014 as I never managed it in 2012 or 20130
