Mortgage application form after BR falls off credit file?

Hi,

My i'm a discharged BR and it is due to fall off my credit file in November this year. I'm planning for the future in trying to rebuild my credit file; recently got a full Barclays account and now got a sub-prime Capital one credit card with £500 limit- plan is to use for petrol and shopping only and pay off in full each month.

I will be probably looking into getting a mortgage with my girlfriend in approx 2 years and will have at least 10% deposit(unless an extreme property market crash); got £30k equity in my current flat which my father owns and has said whatever equity is on it I can have towards deposit.

However my girlfriend of one year doesn't know that I am previously BR and I don't want to tell her- it's in my past where I want it to remain however I am worried about future mortgage applications; do they always ask have you been previously bankrupt(or sequestrated in my case as in Scotland) Obviously i wouldnt want to lie on any applications but will it still show anywhere even after it falls off credit file?

I think you should tell her, a new relationship built on secrets isn't a great idea, not as it could affect her future.

You will have to declare you have been br on a mortgage application. One they ask, so it's fraud to lie. Two, ofc it can still be found, even after its dropped off. It's a matter of public record. Solicitors and lenders do check. It's part of the process.

It will always be a matter of public record.

In Scotland it will be advertised in the Edinburgh Gazette.
