i am really shock how attitude of people have changed now it has become a punishable crime to ask for our rights, why people settle for less...
I know what you mean, my niece is disabled and working for a big well known multi-national high street retailer with they treat disabled people like dirt. It took the manager 6 years to make adjustments for her. Now that they had not alternative they are on her tail every second. The keep getting her salary wrong and manager and HR will not sort it out for her. She asked them in writing so many times for breakdown in wages concerning the deductions but they have ignored her letters. She has put in a grievance but waiting for it to be heard.
The manager just wants her out of there as she is disabled and they do not want to be bothered with disabled people if they are not able to be put wherever they want her to be in the shop floor. She cannot stand for long hours but they would like to keep her standing as she has asked for something easier due to her disability. It appears from job description that everything is up to the manager’s discretion time for breaks and holidays plus pay, is she takes time off for an urgent appointment as a result of disability they will not pay her. She has asked manager what the policy is for hospital appointments as she needs to go there for appointments but manager said there is no policy, I think this is shocking for such a large company not to have something like this in place for disabled people.
It appears the bigger the company the more they get away with in todays recession.
She does not want to post on here as she is frighten that manager will see it and sack her.0 -
I feel for her. I blame the society we live in. All of us are becoming so selfish.iece

I see that everyday.. now being a manager is all about how much bulls@@@ you can others. not about skills or problem solving skills.
One day my manager said to me that he is paying me though we work for a corporate.. Its just small people getting big positions.
My rant is over0 -

Completely different situation - your niece is trying to enforce her legal rights, the OP just feels some sort of moral injustice. If employers didn't have to deal with the latter, they would have more time to support people like your niece.0
