Misselling of mortgage - advice please

We were missold a mortgage a while back by a company who were owned by Gmac RFC(we didn't know that at the time). The mortgage they found for us was with Gmac and it was hell for the entire time due to their constant increases in interest rates and bullying and incompetent staff. We eventually had to sell our home as they were threatening repossession. The payments had gone up so much over the four years we were with them that we got into difficulties.
We tried to complain to the company directly but they have been liquidated. Companies house directed us to Gmac as the owners of the company and they are now calling themselves Paratus. We got nowhere with our complaint (as we expected) as they used stalling tatics and tried to fob us off to the company who sold us the mortgage in the first place despite our letter explaining that we were writing to them as owners of that company! We got nowhere with them and have not had any joy with the Ombudsman service as Paratus are claiming that more than six months had passed since they closed our complaint. As far as we were aware we were still waiting for a final response from them.

Any advice what to do next? Has anyone used one of these legal companies that don't charge unless they win your case?

Any advice from people who have been through this would be most gratefully received.

Thank You

Which is correct. The lender has no liability for any complaint you make about the advice you were given.

What actually is your complaint? You say you have one but you dont give any valid reasons for complaint. Interest rates are variable an in the life of a typical mortgage you will get low rates, average rates and high rates. That is the nature of mortgages. You cant complain when rates go up as you know that will happen at some point. It is just one of the risks of having a variable rate mortgage.

Also, what is wrong with having mortgage PPI? having it doesnt mean its mis-sold. PPI on a mortgage still is good advice.

Yes - but the OP seems to be complaining about the mortgage itself, not PPI.

Not that there is any evidence that the mortgage has been missold - or that the lender was responsible for the activities of the unnamed broker.
