My solicitor is very strict..now I'm worried if I ignore her letters and print mY own out she might not like that. Also the letter that Dave included do we have to write name and address of the person gifting the letter at the top of the letter? And write 'Dear Nationwide Building Society'?0

Then why not go with what the solicitor has done?
Starting to think there is more to this than stated.
Is the 'gift' actually a loan?
Dave and many others including myself have used a very similar letter for years. However your solicitor has provided you with one. I get mine pre application to satisfy the lender if requested as well as the solicitor.
Stick to the solicitor one as they will accept it.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I agree. This whole issue is being compeletely 'over-thought' now.
OP - if you feel happier using your solicitors letter, just use that one.
If you had a broker, they would have printed the template letter, had it signed and uploaded it to Nationwide by now.
This is just a basic processing request, just print it and get it off to Nationwide if you want to get your mortgage offer through. Use whichever letter you feel comfortable with as this could go on for days!0 -
Okay I will use my Solicitors letter and see what they say. Our mortgage offer has already been issued they just want to see proof of gifted deposit as its the last bit of information they want before releasing mortgage funds0

Sorry, I didnt realise you already had your offer.
Yes I am sure it will all be fine, just get your letter off and hope your completion all goes smoothly x0 -

I would cut this paragraph down from
"I understand that if the money is not intended as a true gift that there are other methods by which we can protect our financial interests and we understand the importance of seeking independent legal advice and have had the opportunity to do so"
to
"I have had full opportunity to take independent legal advice concerning the declaration given"Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
