I think there are a few places you can make some slight savings so you should be able to meet their £27 per month. You will still be a bit tight covering everything you have 0s for, but CT is such an important debt that I think it is worth finding a way to pay it now if you can.

    Good luck,.

I don't understand... despite me telling them how much i have... there is just no leeway. I simply can NOT give them what i do not have.... it is like asking someone who has 5 bars of chocolate for 10 bars of chocolate... I have even said until further notice, meaning as soon as i am in a position to offer more, i will.

What can i send back to them now?! Shall i tell them that it is £5.00 per month or nothing? Atleast i am willing to start repaying, they have not even traced the other tenant and i feel i am being victimised just because i am in a position to sort my past out, rather than running away from it.

Let's be clear about something before you start telling them "£5 a month, or nothing". Council tax is indeed a priority debt. It's right up there with paying for the roof over your head and enough food to live on.

It's a bill that you can, in theory, be sent to prison for not paying. While that's not likely to happen in practice (though telling them "£5 a month or nothing" really wouldn't help with that, which is why I'm mentioning this, and I have known people to be sent down for none-payment), it does hopefully make it clear how carefully you need to discuss this with the council.

Screw the bailiffs though. Have a good read of this, take care that you've not left any assets, including your car, where they can get them and then proceed to ignore them and talk to the council instead. If they can't find any goods to take, they're nothing but bluff, bluster and BS.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything
