I rather naively took out a phone contract in my name which was used by my ex. The direct debit for this was set up on her bank account and I thought no more of it until a few weeks ago when a debt collection company got in touch with me saying that they were chasing a debt of £790. This was news to me. The phone was registered at my ex's address so I had not received any correspondance. The ex has obviously been ignoring it and not telling me. I recently lost my job and quickly got a new one but the earnings have dropped a lot. I realise I'm probably liable as it's in my name. What is the minimum I can pay to the debtors? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
