After 4 years I still can't get credit anywhere. Not even a catalogue. I've had a mastercard cashbuilder and paid the fee every month. I've had a silver account with natwest for 4 years but they still won't let my husband and I upgrade to a normal current account. We have good money going into this account every month and are not irresponsible. It is only through problems with my husband's work that we had to go bankrupt in the first place and never ever missed a payment on anything.
I feel as though this stigma is attached to me and will never leave. It is so depressing:(0 -

I don't know the answer. I'm a lucky one I guess. I cleaned up my file ASAP. Maybe that's why it's harder for you? As I have had longer on the "clear" road.
It's not just all fell in my lap. Like I say it was an accident at first. A catalogue account with a 300 limit......which went up to 500, then 1k, then 1.5k, then 2k, then 2.5k and finally 3.7k  which it has been for 2 1/2 years ish now. Without me running it up. I guess they can see I've had a crazy limit, used some, paid it off and not gone crazy.
I then applied with Barclays a year ago, after getting annoyed with the new co-op visa, still not working as a proper visa. Then having to jump through hoops for saving. I got a full account.
But it's been slow. Get an account, use it. Show I'm not going to go mad. Try and step up. I got a cheap contract and another catalogue account. As I was invited to apply with a good offer. Same as the credit card.
I wouldn't have dared go straight for a loan or a normal cc, off the bat. As I'd be declined. I wouldn't go for a loan now anyway. This is literally just to show the powers that be. I can hold the full monty responsibly, so I could do a mortgage, what with not having a husband applying for debt in my name anymore :rotfl:0
