Who doesn't have a stock cupboard

I have a small box ... it currently contains: one tin of peas, half a bottle of vinegar, one packet of couscous, 2 packs of instant custard and 1/4 packet of pasta. That's my lot this week.0

I didn't plan to have a storecupboard full of stuff but taking advantage of good offers from places like Approved food means I've got a pretty good supply that would probably last around 3 weeks if need be - things like pasta, sauces, tins, drinks etc. Also regular yellow sticker hunts mean I have a freezer full of meat and frozen veg. Just so long as you're pretty organised in terms of using things up and they don't just end up sat there, it's a nice balance that allows you to be prepared and to take advantage of special offers, but also eat well.0

Well Tesco's do some very cheap bottled water still and fizzy 18p per 2 litre bottle. Which I can add to squashes and therefore make my own soft drinks. I still have faith in and use tap water and I have a water filter jug I can use if I wish but it does no harm having some water stored."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

No doubt some people will think this is wholey unnecessary BUT... We massively take for granted that there will always be fresh, drinkable water in our taps but what if one day the tap didn't work.
If there was a major breakdown of electricity then the pumps we rely on for water would not work. If there was a terrorist attack on our water supply or pipework that transports it then it might not be safe.
IF anything were to interrupt our water supply we could only survive for a couple of days without water.
When we had bad snowy weather a couple of years ago, the shops soon ran out of essentials. Imagine how fast they would run out of water if something happened
In the USA, people are actively encouraged to store food and water in case of emergency. Here, people think its weird to be prepared for something that 'may not' happen.
Search g00gle for "should I store water?"
Hindsight is a wonderful thing but not something I want to think about as me and my family die of dehydration because I thought it would probably never happen

What IF the waterboard was unable to get to you? It *could* happen...
I am the first to admit that my stores will probably never be used BUT... If I need them, they are there0 -

I have enough stored basics to keep us going for several months and beyond. Freezer is full with a separate drawer for each of veg, fruit, meat, fish. Mixed drawers for bits like bread, butter and and so on. I still have my os old days hat so understairs is full of hm chutneys, jams, bottled goods, wine etc plus vacuum packed dried foods like nuts, oats, barley. I have various tins and bottles around the place. I don`t keep rubbish food and never buy fizzy pop or fizzy water.
We have 8 water butts full of water and just in case, I have a few top notch water filters that are 100% effective in providing drinking water. As someone has already said, it would only take a hacker as every utility is now computerised
We were fully snowed in for 6 weeks in 2010 and we ate well so the store is staying put, although I alternate for dates. I do get a great big stock of good chocolate in for winter too and always make sure that lanterns, radios, ds`s, kindles etc are charged up
Having been through times with very long power cuts, water from a private source that ran completely dry, also being unable to shop. I am ready for anything, including having family stay here if needed
There is storecupboard and there is investment cupbpoard, almost the same but very different. The savvy will know what I mean0 -
There was a regular customer we use to pick up on the Cab, late morning you'd get a radio call to take them to the local shops and a half hour later they'd come to the rank with something they'd bought for their dinner, then same thing in the afternoon, another taxi to buy something for tea and a taxi home. Some days instead of the shops we'd go to McD even for them to get breakfast and wait to take them home
I think if you wanted to buy any drugs they kept plenty of them in the house in stock.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
