Was made bankrupt last week!!!

Hi All, I was made bankrupt by a creditor last week. Went to court lasted 2mins and declared me bankrupt.:(
My question is how long before the OR contacts you? It's been 10days now?
Also, what will the preliminary contact be (phone, letter?) and what will be discussed?
And finally would any of my partners assets be effected, the debts are all on my name?
Thanks in advance....

What assets do you have? Do you have a car? Do you own your own home? Savings etc? Have you sold any assets recently (escpecially below market value)?
These are the sorts of things that could cause a problem. You might want to give CCCS a ring or National Debtline and explain that you need bankruptcy advice.
Alternatively there should be a sticky at the top of the page which should give you a lot of the answers you'll need.

The OR called me 3 days after the court process just to say hello and gave me an appointment for a month after the BR for our full phone interview. I'm surprised you have heard nothing at all so far, do they have your phone number? If not they will post you paperwork and tell you when your appointment is soon.

I have no real assets besides a house, which has 2 charges on and value of the house is probably in negative equity. We don't reside in that house because it's not really livable. So rent a property.
I had a car on lease which I returned back to the company.
    No savings or anything.
Should try I contact the OR, or shall I continue waiting?

There is no harm in contacting your OR to ask when he wants to talk to you.

The Insolvency Service is quite busy at the moment so it may take some time before they can arrange your face to face interview but hopefully the pack you need to fill in should arrive soon.

I phoned them up and they had sent me a letter but to my old address. So we arranged an interview date and will send me the questionnaire that needs to be completed beforehand.
He actually seemed really nice and helpful.
