Quiet kettle

Our kettle is taking about 6 mins to boil 1.7lts so I think it is on the way out.

Any recommendations for a new one - need it to be as quiet as possible and fast boiling.

  • I've had a nightmare this past year or so .....I've had 3 kettles and been unhappy with them all :(........even though i did my usual research and review process!

Recently i had some clubcard vouchers left to exchange so i thought i'd try my luck again!

    Result!!....I highly recommend:

    Tesco JKRBP11 1.7L Black Plastic 3kw Kettle
    (sorry can't do a link)

It is by far the quietest kettle i have ever had......it boils really quickly and also pours without spluttering......i know it sounds daft because it's just a kettle but i'm a big tea drinker and so i use it alot!.......but it's a real joy.....i'm sorely tempted to buy another one as a spare :D
It was £19.99 and worth every penny!

I bought a cheap Tesco JK2 kettle for £6. I hate it!. The minimum water level is below the sight window so I overfill it. It regularly needs picking up and replacing on the base to get an electrical connection and when picked up the base regularly stays attatched. Bought at Christmas so not willing to fight the traffic and crowds for a £6 refund. Previous design cheapo Tesco kettle was ok but only lasted a year.

I've bought and returned 3 kettles in the last 2 weeks. But I seem to be very fussy!

    * Don't want it to be noisy, which most of the new (concealed element) ones all are
    * want it to auto switch off when removed from base before it's switched itself off (ie replace it and it won't continue boiling)
    * Ideally smaller than 1.7 litres (who on earth boils that much?). My current one at 1.5 is ample
    * Ideally minimum of 1 cup - many of them have a minimum of 0.5 litres or even 0,75 - stupid when you're just making a cup for yourself!
    * 3 Kw for fast boil
    * clear side window (those windows behind the handle are impossible to see as you fill it)

Is it too much to ask the manufacturers to design....?
