Old cheese

Would you eat some cheese (edam) that's a week past it's best before date, but that smells and looks fine? I can't decide whether I'm being overly fussy, or whether it would be disgusting

If it smells and looks fine, I'd eat it.
Remember, all cheeses ripen before you get them anyway - what's another week on that?

Yes, definitely. The only cheese I don't eat is if it's gone dry and hard.
I am not stubborn. I am merely correct.

I don't think there is a problem at all here - we've been known to cut the green mould off the cheese and eat it  we're still here to tell you about it.

If cheese dries out, I chuck it in the food processor with a couple of slices of bread, whizz it all up together & then sprinkle it over shepherds pie or fish pie or something similar & it makes a lovely crispy topping.

It will be fine. As long as you don't eat any mould. Dont forget it probably took 6-9 months to mature into cheese at the Dairy/factory, what harm can another week do?
