(Actually having said that, I think London is one of the few places public transport IS cheaper than alternatives. For me in Devon, cost of Diesel for my daily commute about £4. Alternative public transport costs nearly £20!).
I think youmay be confused. BBC TV centre is in Shepherds Bush west london - I was 'in our london studio' on the programme
