Direct Legal & Collections Question

Hope someone can give me some advice please?
My Husband has been paying off a defaulted car loan as a result of Yes Loans going bankrupt in 2007 and all debts were automatically transferred over to Direct Legal & Collections.
He has been paying consistently since 2007 (payments were £75 per month). I lost my job in 2009, so he reduced this to £25 per month. He has never missed a payment (always paying before the due date in fact)
He had just received a call from them today and was asked to increase the payments, which is fair enough. He went onto explain that he would be in a position to do in this 3 months time.
They were not having any of it and said to him they wanted payment in full of £1500. (they did not give a date by). When hubby said that he could not do this as he simply does not have that kind of money, they said that they will issue a CCJ against him.
Can someone please tell me if they can do this? and any advise as to where we can go from here.
Thanks

Did he go bankrupt after the debt ?
If so the debt went bankrupt with it ?

Do you mean the Loan company went bankrupt ?
If so first line of attack is to DEMAND the signed credit agreement, not a copy of a blank one, the one he signed..Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
My Husband didn't go bankrupt the loan company did.

Report these threats to the relevant action groups.
They have no right to threaten you or your husbands Credit Rating in anyway, you have been making payments each month, you have informed them that in 3 months you are able to raise the monthly payment, what more do they want?
They cant bully you into coughing up money you dont have.
Like Vax says, ask for a copy of the original agreements and see if it says anywhere in the agreement that you will be required to pay the last 3 months in one payment.
