Hard to tell whether it is one account that has ended up with duplicate defaults in Arrows name, or two separate things?
I would guess the former, but who knows with them? They are obviously utterly hopeless at recording things correctly.
I would email them I think.
Basically saying that they are recording two false/inaccurate defaults on your file. That is it either (a) a debt that you dispute and that would be over 12 years old and statute barred, and as such defaults of that date are a breach of the Data Protection Act, or (b) that it is an account that you can show was taken out fraudulently by someone else, and likewise the defaults they are recording are a breach of the act.
Demand that they remove all records from your credit files and confirm the matter is closed. Otherwise you will be complaining to the FOS and ICO, and reporting them to the OFT and trading standards.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

OP, I have received exactly the same letter today. I have contacted them and they told me I have an outstanding balance on a debt I had over 4 years back. Luckily I kept the paperwork that stated my account was "satisfied" way back then. I have even called the court that dealt with the case and have been assured that it is clear and not to worry. Hope yours is something very similar and you can rest easy.£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0

Thanks Fermi.
Poppett. I was very suprised and worried when I got it today. If it was affecting me that much I am suprised that I have been able to get things such as my mortgage, credit card, cable tv and phone etc. I think I am just going to wait a bit and see if anything else comes through the post. It's the first I've heard of it, so I think they are trying their luck. Should I get any more like Fermi said I will take it further.
Glad you got yours sorted. I have gone through all the open accounts on my credit reports and closed them all now. Never seen my report before, very interesting to think there was all this info about me out there.TopCashback £1792.63My Little World0 -
Jasmin, I totally agree I was surprised what the credit report showed. I have thought about checking mine before but never got round to doing it. I'm glad I did because I can now keep regular checks on it.
When I spoke to the person at the courts he said that these companies do try their luck with people, especially years after the initial debt because there is always a chance that the person would be confused and pay up. Luckily I have written evidence that mine was "satisfied" and I myself was very satisfied to let them know that!
I hope you get no further contact from them but if you do I wouldn't let it worry you. x£2 savers club. No.90. Aim £500.0 -
I'm hoping to can help and calm me down through reassurance.
Today I have received another letter again in my old name. This time it is entitled "Notice of Assignment" saying that Phoenix Recoveries have assigned all its rights, title and interest to Arrow Global in May 2011.
Should I still ignore it. It is making me feel sick to get these types of letters.
I assume I still shouldnt phone them, although it says at the bottom if I have received the letter in error and the debt isnt mine to contact them.
I just dont understand why all of a sudden after all these years I am getting letters like this

That is just a notice letting the person they after after know that the debt has been sold. A little odd to get that 2nd rather than 1st, but it has no more meaning than that.
What you do is up to you, and whether the default on your file bothers you. It will come off your file regardless next year anyway.
There are 2 alternatives here:
(1) The debt is/was yours, but is statute barred. So nothing they can do apart from recording this false default, which if it bothers you, you could probably complain about and get rid of.
(2) It's not your debt, so again nothing they can do to you apart from the false default. Again, complain if you are bothered.
You get letters like this all of a sudden, and somewhere a previously defunct debt has been sold on to a debt collector for a few pennies in the £. They then aggressively pursue these, as if only a small percentage of people pay up, they make a killing.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thank you once again Fermi.
I think this letter has come at a time when I'm feeling so low and in need of a cry. I hadnt even thought about it since the last time. Dosent help being so exhausted with everything and only having 3 hours sleep.
I really appreciate your advice. It's so wonderful to have a place like this to come to and have someone like yourself that can help and offer reassurance.
