loan advice

Hi everyone.

Im trying to help my husband with his debts and is a bit of a mine field. He is a fab husband but money is a real weakness. I have tried many ways but not got far. He took out a £5,000 loan out the day before our wedding (that I didn't know about until later) It was based on 5 years so I paid some money in, to up his payment each month hoping it would be paid off quicker. It should have been paid last july but there is still £800 left. Paying monthly £180 - I recognise that the 800 left is the interest, but Im unable to work due to various illness and He was made redundant last august so is still coming out of benefits as we need to keep going with it, or it will never end. I read the small print and it seems that it will only be covered if he died. The bank loan is from Natwest. I would dearly love to pay it off asap as its all very stressful with one thing and another and im trying to help him. I do crafts etc and am trying to build enough up to sell as I just want it to have a clean slate as we still have student loans to consider in paying back. I know that some people are in a much worse position with debt, than us, but I would so appreciate some advice in what to do...
Thanks
