Thursday 21st June What small DFW things will you do today ??

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:
Morning  what's going on round here? None of the early starters around anymore??? ok have 10 mins before I need to get ready so NTBY here's the holiday story (I actually feel a bit bad talking about it as I know lots of peeps on here aren't in the situation financially to have a holiday and I don't want to make anyone feel bad. Thanks La E yesterday for your pleasedness for me, I was there and know what its like but there is light at the end of the tunnel!)
So we flew into Bangkok and was there for 2 days, staying in a 5* hotel - it was amazing! We packed the absolute most we could into those days! Went on a tour round 4 of the temples, caught a boat along the river and saw all of the life that lives on the river, houses - some fantastic, some falling down, schools, monks, the floating market. We then got a tuk tuk to china town where I had my eyebrows threaded on a crazy busy side walk by 3 chinese women who didn't speak english - that was an experience! We stumbled across a little food market and ate some sushi and chineese for about 80p for the 2 of us!In the evening we went to one of the roof top bars.
The following day we flew to koh samui which was beautiful but has turned into the usual tourist nightmare. Mostly we stayed on the beach or round the pool drinking either chang beers or cocktails. we went elephant riding, to one of the waterfalls and to a safari park. Several evening we went into town, ended up in the red light district and partied with a group of thai women. I have to say they are the loveliest!
In the last week we took a boat out to Koh Tao which was paradise our room was a little hut on the beach and took a boat taxi out to a tiny island to the Japanese garden for amazing snorkling. And climbed a mountain to sea the view point which was stunning!
On our 2nd to last day we woke up very hung over after getting home at 3.30 and hired a scooter and drove round the island seeing the different areas in koh samui. That again was an experience! And ended up on a stunning beach in nam mae for a couple of hours, then travelled to the other side of the island to see the grandma and grandpa rocks. We went out for one last evening watching the bands that play everywhere and drinking yet more chang!
It was such fun, we laugh so hard and often and now we're back!
Phew!
Anyway things for today!
Ok that's me, better get my skates on! x

Good morning, DNMS – Thanks for starting us off.
Its rather damp outside today and things are not much better indoors and me and dh are still not seeing eye to eye. The main problem is that he wants to go out to work full time, which I know does make sense but he wants me to become a full time housewife, which is not really me and means given up a career dream which I have had since being a young child and have worked hard the last few years to head in the right direction. As well as giving up on my dream it is going to mean being a kept women and it is just not the way that I am. Sorry to share my moan with everyone.
Tonight we are taking the kids out for a treat so will not be very mse tonight but they rarely get treats.
My list for today:
[STRIKE]Wait in for the council as they are coming to do a home safety check[/STRIKE] Got a lot of freebies including fire guard, door locks and socket covers.
[STRIKE]Breakfast and lunch from stores, will get dinner out tonight[/STRIKE]
:)Do some work on website reviews
:)Local comp research
[STRIKE]Take dd for a walk and collect ds from school[/STRIKE]
:)Look through craft books and get some ideas
:)Try and reach a compromise with dh Tried but ended in an arguement begining to think that unless I give in this could be the shortest marriage in history. I'm going have a think and see what the next step is.
[STRIKE]Collect up washing and do full loads[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]Start work on a meal plan for next week and shopping list[/STRIKE]
:)Take kids out tonight for a treat and hope that dd doesn’t get scared by the clowns
:)Update diary and goal lists for this month
:)Make to do list for tomorrow
Hope everyone has a good Thursday xAiming to get Debt Free.0 -

Good evening,
I had to post because I have had a lovely day and needed to share the love.
I had a great meeting this morning, and the other contractor was very complimentary about my work. Then I saw my pay slip which has the stupid amounts of overtime on - it has doubled my normal wage (after tax!):D
Then I had an idea which my managers are really keen on and it might mean I have to write and present a paper at a conference!
I'm going to enjoy this nice feeling while it lasts!
