Hi All,
I'm currently battling with my DMP provider to get my fees refunded. It's a long story and I have posted about this before.
To cut the story short, they've taken an early settlement fee from me without telling me about it, I found out by accident and now I want my money back.
I have asked for them to refund all the fees in total and last week they offered me £300 as a good will gesture.
I turned down this offer as they actually took £1900 in fees.
Today they have come back with a counter offer (to stop me going to the ombudsman) of £900 but I have only 1 hour to make a decision.
What to do?????
Do I take the £900 and run or do I hold out in the hope that they either increase it or that the Ombudsman take my side and decide in my favour when I escilate the complaint?
PLEASE HELP!!!

The fact they have tripled their offer already, I would say no, hold out. BUT I don't know the whole story. Also the 'make your mind up in an hour is a scare tactic to panic you into agreeing which suggests they are 'scared'.March'13 - Debt £13000 :eek:Total % paid - 0%0

to me this is an admission they stole money from you and i would contact the ombudsman thats only my view but if that was me thats what i would do0

I'd hold out personally. They are bricking it upping their offer already! tell them you'll take it further.DEBT FREE AND PROUD

Only you can answer this one really... what figure would they have to offer you in order for you to say yes without hesitation and not feel that you've been ripped off? If that figure isn't £900 then it's probably worth holding out. Also bear in mind (and maybe point out to them) that if you took it to the ombudsman and won then you may be entitled to interest on that £19000

Thanks for all your advice.
I declined the offer last night and told them not to waste their time trying to make another offer unless it was for the full refund which I asked for in the first place.
I told them if they do not offer me the full refund, I will take my complaint to the Ombudsman and they said they would call me again tomorrow (today).
Fingers crossed for a full refund of the illegal fees otherwise I will have no choice but to go all the way...

HAPPY DAYS!!!
Just benn called back by the DMP company. They have agreed to pay back all of the early settlement fees they took from me without my knowledge and my full refund of £1900 will be in my bank in the next 10 days :j
Thanks for all your advice with regards to "sticking it out" and standing up for what I knew was right.
For a change, I have come out on top!! :T0 -

Just as an aside, they have saved themselves £500 because that is the amount that they would have to pay as a fee to the ombudsman if you had taken it that far. Win or lose.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
