Hi All
can anybody please help i ordered a farm house chest from the cotswold company and it arrived on good friday morning.
the chest cost £240 and its biggest load of tat, i could of made the chest myself for about £40, anyway i contacted the company through e-mail and asked about returning the chest as it was not what i had expected.
they got back to me with dates that they arrange to pick the chest up from me but its going to cost me £60. please advice because i don't want to pay £60.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ADVICE KATHY

When you made the order did it say you would be responsible for the cost of sending it back? Is there anything about 'returns policy' on the order or receipt
It's differant if it's faulty ,they would have to arrange to pick it up and carry the cost ......................but it's not faulty so not sure where you stand on this.0 -
Thanks for the reply trafalgar, there is a fault with the chest the paint has split on the joins of the woodwork, but i do not think that the chest is worth £60 let alone £240.0

Hi All
I got back in touch with the cotswold company again and they will not be charging the £60 collection fee for the return of the chest.
Thanks

This doesn't just apply to Kathy, but to anyone who reads it. If you order/buy anything, and what you get is different to what you expected, you would be entitled to be put back in the position you were in before you made you order/purchase. In this case, it would be a full refund without being penalised for any kind of postage costs.0

Is this true in law?
I bought a tap from Alaris Avenue, who I have to say where really helpful and courteous, but when I received the tap it was a lot bigger than I expected and would have looked ridiculous on my sink. So I arranged to have it returned. They would only allow us to return it through their courier and said they would deduct £35.00 for carriage when they issued a refund. As P & P was free originally I didn't quibble although I was annoyed because if they had put the tap dimensions on the website I would not have bought the tap.
Should I contact them and ask for them to refund the carriage?0 -

Yes, if they haven't said the size and you obviously assumed a "normal" tap size. They didn't state it was larger than normal. It's definitely worth trying anyway. Try Trading Standards. Decide which yours fits and quote "Sale of Goods Act etc. ".Torgwen.....................
