signed up to experian to find a score of 170...
Now 1 thing that i did have was a barclay card £500 over the limit , its now way under and paying twice the amount of the min payment each month, this show as up to date in experian.
Natwest current account overdraft, not been with them for 3/4 years now and noticed £380 overdraft unpaid, i forgot about it as they dont send reminders. If i go into the bank on payday next month and clear the balance will this help improve from 170?
Last thing is a big one, its a 15k loan thats well in default ( natwest), couldnt pay due to a low wage when changing jobs, the wouldnt accept any less ? told them i cant afford it and they just got snobby so i never payed. Now i have a best paid job ive had i will make arrangements to pay / start paying it of.
In 6 months time do you think by paying the overdraft of and starting to get my loan in order ill improve on the 170 score?

Everything positive improves your score but its not an over night thing. Its a reflection of your committments.
I can confirm my score was 192 at its lowest. Now it is slowly rising through everything being paid on time and with in the limits. I wouldn't have said though in your current state that your score is the major concern. Its the fact you are in defult with your loan. Also having a balance with Natwest is not great; you need to pay that off as soon as possible; it all goes towards improving everything.
Good luck. x3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

My score has risen from about 200 to 943 in six months with Experian, although Equifax show it still at around 200...I was proud of myself before signing up to Equifax, but now I'm not so sure just how much decision making etc is based on your credit score. My phone contract provider used Equifax to credit check me and accepted me with a £100 deposit. Had they checked me using Experian, would it have been different?
The advice that members here seem to offer if that your score, indeed, isn't worth a great deal!0 -
the loans from a long time ago, ive not made any payments since around 2008, they dont seem to pester me much either? and dont bother at all asking for the overdraft money, infact the overdraft is froze , no interest been added0

Is the loan getting interest added, that may be why they aren't pestering you. be careful with that - they may demand it all back in one go, same for OD.
Credit score wise - they aren't worth the paper they are written on - mine is 999 and i can't get credit cos I am maxed out to limit of what I have (well I was at LBM).
It takes apx 6 - 8 months in my expereince for it to change AFTER you have sorted the problems out. If you are in default all the time then your score won't change.Debt - CCV £3792
CCB £1383 (took a hit for a holiday)
Loan 1 £1787
Loan 2 £1683
Total £8601 Was £393020 -
Forget the score - it means nothing. All creditors do their own scoring and dont rely on the CR agencies in house number.
What IS important is your history. If you have an active default - your not going to get much (if anything) in the way of credit. You need to clear that before anything will change - then it will take time. Not many agencies will offer credit until that default has been settled for at least 2 years, or until it dropps off your history 6 years from it last being recorded.0 -
Sorry to hijack.
All my debts are in default, I've not paid anything since 2008 but now I really want to sort out my life and tackle this problem.
Most my debts are with DCA's if I start making regular payments does this mean my debt are still in default each month? Or will they remain in default until I clear them.
What I'm trying to say is if I start making regular payments will my credit score improve?Watch this space.... Will update soon!0 -
