Strange message on Halifax statement

I have a defaulted CC with Halifax and am on a payment plan. Satements arrive every few months but on the bottom of the last one it said,
'We're are making a change from 2 July which may help you reduce your balance on your closed credit card.
If we owe you money in relation to any transactions, interest or charges we may use it to pay back money you owe us. If we intend to do this we will contact you before it happens.

Anyone else had this or know what they are likely to do, if anything?

Think it just means that if you claim back bank charges and they agree to pay them, that they will pay the amount off the balance rather than give you the cash.

Ummm I thought it would be something like that. I was hoping they would say most of my remaining debt was interest they had charged and they were going to write it off! Wishful thinking on my part
