Sweet potatoes, processed peas and cream of tartar

Having a clear out in the kitchen and looking for help use these up, not necessarily in one recipe!!!
Sweet potatoes someone brought round for a BBQ recently. BB date is 31st May, should I just chuck or will they be ok? Not something I'd normally buy, what can I put them in?
Processed peas - bought these by accident instead of sweetcorn, again not really a fan of peas so they've been stuck in the cupboard. The name processed peas actually really turns me off.
Cream of tartar - OH bought this by mistake when I sent him out for baking powder, been sitting in cupboard since, almost out of date. Don't even know what its used for.

Sweet potatoe is nice in a curry, you'll know if it's bad nce you cut into it if it's really soft or slimmy just like a proper spud, personally i'd prob use it.
You can use processed peas (assuming you don't mean mushy peas) in casarole my granny does it all the time, i hate them.
Err pass of cream of tartar maybe have a wee google and see what comes up.DEC GC £463.67/£450

Drop Scones -
2 eggs
half a pint of milk
8 oz SR flour
2 oz sugar
1 teaspoon CREAM of TARTAR
beat together to make a batter.
heat a little oil or butter in a non stick frying pan.
drop big dollops of the batter in the pan (about a tablespoonful)
when they bubble on top flip 'em over.
should make about 25, i serve 'em up with golden syrup!
i use cream of tartar as a raising agent with bicarb of soda (2 parts cream of tartar to 1 part bicarb)0 -
Cream of tartar is a raising agent. I use it all the time (in scones for example). Older recipe books specify it more
Use it to make your own baking powder (I don't buy baking powder). I/2 teaspoon of Cream of tartar to 1/4 teaspoon of Bicarb (that's equivalent to 1 tsp of bought baking powder). If your not using immediately add 1/4 tsp of cornflour to stop any chemical reaction and absorb moisture.
Sweet potatoes make a good curry, This is a pretty good recipe which I make pretty often. Though I normally use 50% normal tattie to 50% sweet tattie

Sweet potatoes are wonderful made into oven wedges, you don't even have to peel them, just give them a good scrub and the outside skin is soft and edible once they are cooked. Cut into size of pieces you want, put into a big bowl and chuck in a couple of teaspoons of oil and use your hands to coat the potato. Add in spices to your taste and turn out onto a lined oven tray. Cook at 200deg C for 20 - 25 minutes. ENJOY! Processed peas can be whizzed up in a blender and make a good base for Pea Soup. Cream of Tartar can be used in baking things like scones. Hope that helps Lyn.0
