Same here in the South-West - no jobs, shops closing down everywhere - being replaced by pound shops and charity shops
New Housing springing up everywhere - with no jobs for the residents to earn money - things look bleak for the whole economy
Depressing isn't it ?0 -
...... however, they all seem to fall down miserably when sorting the tax you pay out - despite having given them my P45 before I started work. It has taken nearly 5 months to get on the right tax code. Not good enough!!
There should be some legislation and deadlines put in place as to when they have to have you off emergency tax. These are low paid workers struggling to cope being penalised. Yes I know you get it back but someone with a mortgage, rent and a family to feed needs it now not in a few months time.
It is really scary not knowing what the future holds.
That is probably the fault of HMRC rather than your employers
They are imbeciles - incapable of using a pocket calculator.....0 -

Unfortunately not so. My employer seemed to be incapable of communicating with the tax office and kept telling me to do it (I have never known anything like it). The tax office were extremely helpful and were sending P6's to my employer who insisted they hadn't got them and then refused to ring the tax office. Yet on the same dates the t.o. sent the P6's out they sent me recoding notices which I received.
The tax office confirmed that if my employer called them they would give verbal confirmation over the telephone for them to allocate a tax code to me and take me off emergency tax. My employer refused to call the tax office.
It ended up with my employer asking me to ask the tax office to fax down my P6 to the local temp office. Which I did and then asked the temp office to confirm receipt. Now why couldn't my employer ask the t.o. to do that??0 -
Oh the joys of being unemployed - I am sooo looking forward to it0

'lies, damned lies, and statistics' springs to mind.
More financial black holes will appear given time, especially in the UK and Eurozone.
Better get used to unemployment figures looking better than they actually are especially when statistics are involved, as they only mask the truth.0
