Jb Share Questions

I'm thinking about applying for a vacancy which is a job share position and it occurred to me that I might not be able to take time off without the other half of the job share being able to cover for me and vice versa.

What sort of questions about the job share should I be asking?

Any help would be appreciated. :)

What are the roles of each of each (will there be similar targets, responsbilities)

Will there be expectation to cover holidays (if so will this be paid at OT rate or standard rate)

What are the skills of the job share - how can you compliment each other

Is there anytime when you will be together

    Is there a handover procedure

Will you share same email/have access to same email

How are messages for each other conversed -

Do you have authority to deal 100% with any issue that occured on day job share not working but involved them - do you have to tell them to wait and deal with them

Will you both be "case loaded" and have own workload - is it shared

    Is paperwork Pro-Rate'd to hours

How do they calculate Bank Holidays (important as some give days off only, others will make part of AL, so if you work a Monday you will have to use AL to take the Monday's)

Just a few but are based on my "field" and so may not be relevant to yours and you can eliminate some from knowing your field
  • Thank you very much indeed - that's a great list. :)

Might be worth asking whether or not you would be asked to provide emergency cover if your co-worker was unexpectedly sick etc?

Yup this, but make it sound more positive - ie.

`Would I be able to do extra hours to cover sickness/time off for the other half of the job share..'

Not `Would I be expected to do..'

Sounds more positive that you would WANT to do more hours and sound more enthusiastic! Good luck!
