Mortgage/credit score advice

Hi,

I'm completely confused! I'm just about to apply for a mortgage on a new house so thought I'd best check my credit scores. They're all different!

Call Credit have a rating of 794 which they say is above average and good.

Equifax have a score of 498 which they say is excellent.

Both have the same information so why are they so different? And how can a score of 498 be excellent against a score of 794 which is only good? And does it matter?

I'm looking to arrange a new mortgage with a 15% deposit and am only looking to borrow 2.2 x my salary. I've had no issues with adverse credit in over 3 years but did miss a couple of credit card payments before that which are still on my record. Am I likely to be able to get a mortgage in the current climate?

Any advise gratefully received - I'm very confused!

Thanks

They score your details in different ways...just like lenders will - so dont worry about their scores its useless.

You will be able to get a mortgage i think only the strictest of lenders would have any issues with you - everyone else should be fine.

  • Thanks. I hoped it was just me worrying and reading google is never a good idea when you're already worried!

I have a noddle credit score of 5. This is considered excellent by them.
There may be credit score inflation in the pipeline. If the so called credit reference agencies expressed their meaningless credit scores as a meaningless percentage then there would be less confusion .
