Husband getting credit

Hi there

I am 9 months into a DMP going well so far, 4 arrangements one of which (MBNA) have defaulted me.

Anyway my husband is unaware of my debt, he has an impeccable credit rating and is thinking of buying a new car soon. So here is my problem, we are both named on the mortgage but he pays it solely from his money and we have no other financial connections.

Will he be refused credit because of me?

Any advice much appreciated.

You are financially linked, so your DMP will affect him. You need to tell him pronto.

  • Oh Dusty, I'm sorry to say this but if you've a joint account (eg the mortgage) then you will be financially linked and your credit will affect his.

Really no was to remove the link as you've got the mortgage - sorry.

Have you thought about telling him? I know he'll probably be upset to start with but having read loads of threads from others in similar situations (and indeed some where the "in the dark" partner has also posted on the thread), it's often self directed as they didn't realise something was wrong. I'm sure the worry must be affecting you (and will eventually your relationship) and it's so much better to share these things.

    Best of luck
