I dont believe these price check things.. you can go to Asda, Sainsburys and Tesco's and they all print out things saying they were cheaper! Take it with a pinch of salt I say...

So just split your shopping into 2 receipts if you're in the habit of overspending at Tesco.

In my opinion this is the arrogance that means people don't like Tesco, exactly like a politician explaining away an election loss.

Tesco have obviously found that some people are taking advantage of the system to obtain Asda special offer prices at Tesco. Rather than just admit that they were trying to prevent the scheme being abused they come out with this mealy mouthed tosh about it being the result of customer feedback - really, which customer do you think said 'Yes, I would prefer a £10 cap rather than a £20 one'?!

TBH I hope Sainsburys and Asda run some pointed adverts about how Tesco couldn't afford to keep up their price promises. Is there any cap on the other supermarkets refunds? Already they make it hard to claim except for Sainsburys where it is automatic but then you get no breakdown so it is impossible to know which prices have been checked.

Tesco claims the changes are a result of customer feedback.

A spokeswoman says: "Given our prices are already very good value, the majority of price comparison vouchers we issue are for less than £2.
    I think....

"Tesco claims the changes are a result of customer feedback."

I can't imagine anybody said "Oh, you are giving me far too much money, please, please cap it before I drive Tesco out of business by recklessly buying overpriced items so that you have to pay me back!"

I think Sainsbury's also have a cap but forgot the amount.

Also you now need a minimum of 8 items for it to compare.
The only thing that made their price match better than Asda's was the fact that their was no minimum items required, now they are exactly the same but Asda's give you 10%.
Tesco must enjoy shotting themselves in the foot I think.
  • This has been almost worthless since they got rid of double the difference!
Anyone who is bothered to do these price checks, are usually shoppers that buy the offers and the best value items anyway, so their shop is always the cheapest, no matter which supermarket they use.
The database is rubbish anyway, it has loads of errors & many items are not available to check, as they state there isn't a comparable item, when there is.
    Next year we'll be millionaires!

Is it just me or is Tesco's price check system broken at the moment?

I keep submitting receipts, but get responses back relating to receipts I submitted weeks ago. I'm losing track now of which vouchers I've printed and which I haven't.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.
