Looking forward in life!!! Any help?

Hello.

I have been looking at these pages for a few years. Usually the debt free wannabee pages... But I am now 'officially debt free' 100%

The next step in life is house buying. We currently have £10K saving and able to save £1000 per month. Out iam is to have £18K by Jun next year.

I am watching the housing market in my local area and for what we need (2 kids) is about £150-180K

Will we be able to do this with 18K savings.

I earn 33K wife 10K..................

Just want to know if this is dream land or a possibilty

Get a hold of your credit files and see if there's anything on there. You'll need to be squeaky clean if your LTV is 90%. Make sure you're on the electoral roll too.
  • The top end maybe pushing it, but a decent payment profile over the last few years and a 10% deposit looks promising.

Mid range prices you have quoted seem managable, especially if your both under 40 yeara old.

Squeeky clean credit file and you should be able to do this. £180k might be pushing it a bit although it may still be possible.

I would say £150-165k would be easier.

  • I have not defaulted on anything so I am pretty sure it should be fine. And will not be applying for credit for another year (mortgage) and will just use CC to pay for petrol and pay in full to help the credit file.We are both under 30 and the only reason my wife earns 10K is due to newborn and 2 year olf. In next 3-4 years she should earn approx 18-25K due to her qulaifications.Promising news, I thing 165K is optimum for us as we want a house for long term! Therefore big enough to cope with the family!
