Share scheme money

Hello, I hope I have posted to the correct forum. This is my first post here.
I have a cheque that was issued by the Halifax share scheme to my Dad (who has since passed away) in 1997 - the cheque is for 1465 Pounds. Does anyone now if it's possible to somehow claim this money or if this cheque is too old.
Any advice on this is much appreciated!!
