Spending money in USA without charges

Apologies if this is in the wrong section.
I'm getting married next Saturday and we are going to Seattle, Alasksa, Vegas and New York for our honeymoon.
I've been advised not to use my debit card to withdraw money abroad. I dont want to withdraw a lot of money and carry that about with me. Are there any recommended cards to use where I wont get hammered for making withdrawls.
I've searched online but I don't think I'm wording my searches properly as I've had little joy so far.
