Hi all

Sorry I need to have a rant (feel like that's all I ever do). Does anyone else feel like their wedding is doomed before it has even started.

1) We lent money to my brother & his gf so they could get their flat they were meant to pay us back Jan 11 still nothing and they haven't even had the decency to speak to me about it. This was money from our wedding fund.
2) OH lost his job last April took until the August to get another which is a very low paid job (just about covers bills) so again wedding fund took a hit BIG time.
3) General issues around hotels ect
4) Finally getting back on track following a massive vet bill too and just learnt that OH will loose his bonus that was going to go into wedding fund because someone made a major mess up at his work that was found on the audit today. Failed audit means no bonus :mad:

I am so mad! I am not going to cry but I feel like smashing quite a few things up. I feel like I am the only one doing anything for this poxy wedding (working 2 jobs and nearly killing myself to do it) All I get is whineing from Bridesmade and MIL2B & her family, Complaining and not necessary problem causing from my grandparents

I seriously feel like telling them all to stuff it.

Grrrr rant off (for now!)

Can you not ask your brother for the money back? If installments if nothing else, some people may just assume when you want /need it you'll ask for it.

Ha I feel like that too sometimes.

OH doesn't have a full time job, just a casual one with the local council which doesn't have regular hours. He's had less work than last year due to events being cancelled due to the stupid **** weather and although his hours have increased greatly over the last few weeks (he's working 7 day weeks and long hours) it still won't cover the money we have "lost". He was going to give me a large sum from his student loan but spent that on crap and extravagent food and giving his mum money to waste on his family (who he dislikes).

I too am the only person who does anything to do with the wedding and when I ask for his input all he does is wind me up with stupid answers and idiotic suggestions at the most unhelpful times.

The list goes on so I completely sympathise with you. I too at times feel like telling them all to poke the wedding where the sun don't shine. Ever think it would have been easier to elope??? haha

I'm sure it'll all be worth it in the end.

With regards to your brother I would ask for the money back, I have a couple of family members who need a gentle reminder when it comes to loaned money.

I am with you both, I sometimes feel like this too lol. I am the only one doing anything for this wedding and am feeling knackered.

Thanks all sorry to rant but I'm so mad. Especially as I am now on my way to work with the person who is responsible for the failed audit I have to bite my tongue but she normally talks to me like crud and I can see myself picking up the nearest knife and doing unmentionable things to her lmao

Lisa that's what I get when I ask OH some of the responses have been infuriating.

I'm going to ask but don't think I'll get even half back of what they owe before the wedding but hey something is better than nothing isn't it

Hi maybe if you are feeling so stressed financially & personally by 'the poxy wedding' it might be an idea to simplify your arrangements as much as you are happy with? What would your DH-to-be feel about that?

I'm not saying to anyone don't have a dream wedding day - just to take care of your health and well-being as no wedding day is perfect without these precious commodities.

(we are having a 'big' but simple day - over 100 guests but a cheap buffet, my niece BMs in Monsoon kids dresses, no cars, conventional speeches & other usual stuff but my lovely family & friendswill hopefully really enjoy it)

The financial stress is just because every time we seem to be seeing the light at the end of the tunnel something messes it up lol we only have about 5k left to pay my nan & grandad are giving us 1k as a wedding gift I just have to ask when ready I get a 1.5k bonus in March so we don't have much left to find so we'll be fine

Just every time we get some windfall as I said something happens lol Good practice for married life though

Plus family members are causing issues where there is no need and their all close members too so I don't feel able to tell them where to go lol

Feeling more positive today that it'll all be fine chief bridesmaid told me some good advice (as she should lol)

What a beautiful post, and very wise words. I shall be taking them to heart when I have BZ moments (which is quite often at the mo!).
