I am in the process of opening a basic bank account, will the bank (HSBC) let me open a savings account as well?
I want to have somewhere to save my overtime money to pay full and finals if/when they are offered.
I don't want to ask in the bank and for them to say no.:o

I've got a basic account and a savings ISA with Natwest so the answer is probably yes. so the answer is probably yes.

If you get one - you will almost certainly get the other - neither offer a credit facility which is the point.
I have a savings account where birthday/Xmas goes to build up F&F pots.0

Anywhere should give you a savings account as they usually aren't credit checked, only identity checked. Hope you get one soon.

I opened a basic account (Barclays) and then opened a basic savings account through internet banking with them. No paperwork to fill in and only needed to transfer £1 to open it. May be worth looking to see if you can do it this way too with HSBC once your basic account is set upCrazy unorganised mum in need of help!

We had a Co-op basic account and savings account as well as a Nationwide savings account. Having the savings account with the basic account was handy as online transfers were immediate.Proud to have dealt with my debts, became debt free on 03/11/2011. Repaid £54,723.41 LBM May 2006.
