scam

It would be great if anyone can help me.
In Oct 2010 I paid £395 for a service on the phone(to clear my credit card debt that I had it more than certain years) by obviously my credit card(Santander).

Nothing happened and I was chasing company every month and they respond was we have written to the card company and waiting for their reply.

Finally in Sep 2011 I found out that company has announced insolvency so I did contact Santander and ask them to refund the fee I was already paid.

They have the most awful complain department with a 0871 number that will keep you waiting for ages and no actual respond.

All the time ,they reopened my case and someone was going to contact me in 48 hours or they would send me an application form and as you know nothing happened until finally I contacted them and a lady told me that there is a deadline to be able to refund your money and that is 120 days after the transaction so your case is closed.

What I want to know is there anywhere I can complain about the Santander's complain department and can I get my money back which I am still paying interest on it.

All The Best

Can I ask you to clarify something? Did you pay the fee to Santander or to a third party?

If you voluntarily paid a fee to someone else using your credit card, you do have a fixed limit of time to claim a refund. Santander have done nothing wrong in refusing to deal with this for you, so there is no complaint to be upheld against them (believe me, that's not something you can say often). Complaining about the complaints dept for not ringing you back is hardly worth it, since you asked for the refund so long after the transaction - them calling you back wouldn't have made a difference at that point, so you have lost nothing.

You paid a fee by card to access a service that would help you clear your card? Was it a debt management company, a PPI reclaim company or what? If it was for PPI, then you can send a letter yourself.

In some cases you might be able to trace ownership by another company, but if they are completely insolvent and were a limited company then you are bang out of luck. You would not have been listed as a creditor (under their terms, you paid for a service), so you wouldn't get anything from the liquidation.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Advance fee fraud is when fraudsters target victims to make advance or upfront payments for goods, services and/or financial gains that do not materialise.
