UK Expat looking for UK Mortgage

Hello,

Could somebody offer some advice on this, I am looking to purchase a house in the UK, but I live and work in Brussels, Belgium.

I would plan on living in this house when I return to the UK permanently, currently the house would be used by my wife and son, when we visit the UK, as we visit every two weeks. The house would be bought near my family’s house. My expected budget would be around 100K. In addition I am a first time buyer, and I would say my credit rating is Average.

Anyone recommend a lender out there, or even if they would entertain me?

Thanks
Dan

Any lender will need to be able to evaulate your credit status - do you have a UK bank account, if so is your salary paid into this in sterling ? any UK billed credit cards or loans (redeemed less than 12 mts ago) ?

You have an "average" credit history .... what exactly do you mean ? Are you trying to say you (your wife) have negative credit history ? If so, please expand on the details.

Does your wife have any UK credit history ?

You say you are a First Time Buyer - which means that you have never owned (mortgaged or not) a property, is that correct ?

Are you employed by a UK company, is it with themselves that you are currently working and living os of the UK (ie they have temporarily relocated you ?)

When do you plan to return to the UK ?

Will you be returning with your employer, or will you be looking for a new employer/position to facilitate your return to the UK ?

How much deposit will you have ?

The unoccupany for 2 wks at a time shouldn't be a huge issue, as blds ins is usually only invalidated for periods of absence of 30+ consecutive days at a time.

This seems like a awful lot of questions, but they will be same/similar to those asked by any lender.

    Hope this helps

    Holly
