Now to get myself some shoes and clothes. My old trainers have holes big enough to fit three fingers in and I only have one decent pair of jeans left (the others being decidedly indecent!)

Many Congratulations. Enjoy your shopping trip :rotfl:.
  • Congratulations! :D

It's a wonderful feeling isn't it. And it doesn't go away! Although I think it takes a few months for what you've achieved- and it's implications - to properly sink in...

Any plans for a big celebration?

Thanks all. 2 pairs of new boots from Millets (half price, of course) is celebration enough for now!

As to tips etc. what can I add that hasnt been said loads of times on these boards. Just live well within your means and money will not be a bother.

We saved for 8 years for a deposit. Were able to put down a colossal amount to get the absolute best mortgage deal and then threw almost every penny at it for 2 more years. Job's a good 'un!

And just to say - Overpay as much as possible as frequently as possible! The money lenders will hate you for it!

    Well done!
You can now live dangerously and buy another pair of shoes. :D

It must feel great without that burden.
I hope to be in a similar situation next year.
