Mortgage offered, searches done....

Right my mortgage has been offered, paperwork returned to lender by special delivery today. Solicitor has completed searches etc and all seems fine there. They are sending out their mortgage docs for signing (and witnessing) today so should receive tomorrow, will be returning by special delivery the following day.
The solicitors have asked for the release of funds today from lender and have said it should take no more than 7 working days.
With the above in mind, is it too much for exchange to happen by the end of this week with a view to completion next week so that I can finally move into my shiny new house?
Also, anyone got any experience of buying new builds? Due to the terms of part exchange, we have to leave white goods behind, as my wife and I have 2 small children, we really need washing machine and fridge-freezer in for when we move in, what are the chances of being allowed the keys before completion for a day, just to get white goods installed?
Cheers in advance

No-one can answer this for you. You can only do your best to ensure everything is in place.what are the chances of being allowed the keys before completion for a day, just to get white goods installed?
Probably very little chance of getting keys before completion. Your best option may be to buy your new fridge and washing machine before you move and take them with you, just like you would your old ones. Book plumber for the day after you move to install washer?

Do they ask for the funds prior to exchange?
I would have thought the process would be to figure out the timescales and set the completion date with enough time for funds to arrive, exchange, then request funds.
Otherwise the funds could arrive and no contract has been signed.0
