Hi
My partner has had 3 different tax codes since April
Whats going on at HMRC thought they were all sorted
He has company car ,fuel and health plan benefits could this be why they keep changing his tax code
They reckon he underpaid in 2010/2011 but he was paying another underpayment that year so surely the tax code should of been right during that year
It seems he as underpaid every time there is a PAYE query
Any suggestions please

tax is all about detail
if you want to post up the details when maybe we could help
do note that accurate figures for your OH's BIK for tax year 2011-12 will only become known to HMRC after april 2012 when the figures are available from the employer0 -
Indeed. PAYE is all based on estimates. If HMRC receives new info from your OH or their employer, it could affect their tax code.
The initial code is calculated before the start of the year. Usually around Jan/Feb. It means HMRC has to estimate the income and benefits likely to be rreceived over 12 months from 6 April. So 14 odd months into the future. All this based on info for a previous year, so it could be 9 months out of date at the outset.
Your OH should have received a Coding Notice for each change. Comparing each notice in turn should explain whats going onThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
