my husband was contacted on saturday by the csa, this was totally out of the blue by the way, for maintenance payments for his 16 yr old daughter from previous marriage, the person on the phone took his employment details and how much he earns but they also asked for my income aswell which is child tax credits as he is the main earner, they have taken my money into consideration when calculating how much he has to pay, can they do this as we also have 6 dependant children ourselves to look after

yip under the current legislation because he gets an allowance for the kids that are in his household any income paid for them (ctc) will be counted as income - also if he received wtc as he is the higher earner this will also be included as income.Comp Wins 2011 : Cant wait to start listing everything:j:j:j0

Was there a private arrangement in place prior to this?
Yes they do take CTC into consideration, but they should also take into consideration a reduction for dependent children in his current household.0
